Meet the Team

Niva Elkin-Koren

Niva Elkin-Koren, S.J.D.

Niva is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and a Professor of Law at Tel Aviv University (TAU), where she also serves as the academic director of the Chief Justice Meir Shamgar Center for Digital Law and Innovation and the co-director of the Algorithmic Governance Lab at TAU Innovation Lab ("TIL"). Niva received her LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and her S.J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Avigdor Gal

Avigdor Gal, D. Sc.

Avigdor serves as the Benjamin and Florence Free Chaired Professor of Data Science and the Co-chair of the Center for Humanities & AI at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where he led the design of the first data science engineering program in Israel. Avigdor's research focuses on data integration under uncertainty and leverages state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning techniques to improve data quality. Avigdor received his B.Sc and D. Sc. from the Technion.

Karni Chagal-Feferkorn

Karni Chagal-Feferkorn, Ph.D.

Karni is an entrepreneur who thrives at the intersection of law, technology & policy. Karni is a licensed attorney in New York, California, and Israel. She holds an LL.M. in Law & Technology from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Law (focusing on AI and legal liability for damage) from Haifa University. Her postdoc fellowship at the University of Ottawa focused on global regulation of AI.

Shlomi Hod

Shlomi Hod, Ph.D.

Shlomi is an associated researcher at the Weizenbaum Institute in Berlin. Shlomi research focuses on creating tools for the real-world deployment of responsible computing systems, with an emphasis on differential privacy. Shlomi holds a Computer Science Ph.D. from Boston University, and in the past year, he visited Columbia University and completed an OpenDP fellowship at Harvard University. Previously, Shlomi co-founded the Israeli National Cyber Education Center.
